Romania Purchases 180 Million USD Missiles for their F-16 Fleet

Romania has recently purchased 186 AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs). These missiles are compatible with Romanias fleet of nearly 50 F-16s. This purchase, approved August 22nd, 2024, is estimated to cost $592 million USD and will be fulfilled by RTX. These missiles are crucial for safeguarding Romanian airspace and bolstering the country's national security.
What is an AMRAAM?
An AMRAAM is an active radar-guided missile designed for air-to-air combat. Created by Raytheon Technologies, it has a range of approximately 180 kilometers (112 miles) and is highly effective against both short-range and long-range targets.
